“Don’t listen to anyone who tells you that you can’t do this or that. That’s nonsense. Make up your mind … then have a go at everything… never, never let them persuade you that things are too difficult or impossible.” Douglas Bader

When I started taxhelp.uk.com nearly five years ago, I had always been an employee working for other people. There are usually people telling you that being an employee is safer and that self employment is risky, but with the change in world markets is this still the case?

When we are seeing redundancies of tens of thousands of people, my own view is that being an employee is risky now and self employment actually has the potential to offer more security.
There are many people who would like to start their own business but don’t take that first step – indeed it took me several months of deliberating before I made that step myself.
I launched the taxhelp.uk.com in July 2006 and, despite the recession, it has grown into the thriving business it is today by focussing on helping self employed people pay less tax and avoid fines and offering them a unique range of fixed fee packages.

If you would like to find out more about how I launched a successful business during a recession, I published my guide to combining online & offline networking last year and it also shares the story of my journey as well.
