HMRC has a programme where it is contacting businesses to review their business records.

The format of this is that firstly a letter is sent to the business, and then a telephone call is made about a week later to ask a series of questions.
Following the call HMRC will decide whether the business records are adequate or whether further assistance or a visit is required.

As these letters are not copied to agents, it is important that you notify your accountant if you receive one.
